Who I am

Ko Tiaki Kerei ahau (Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Kahungunu, Te Rarawa, Ngāpuhi). I am a creative Indigenous movement practitioner and caregiver based in Tāmaki Makaurau.

As a choreographer, performer, lecturer, video editor and writer, I explore multicultural directions for restorative connectivity.

I work alongside diverse institutions and communities, such as the University of California — Riverside (as Visiting Assistant Professor), University of California — Berkeley (as Artist in Residence at the Asian/Pacific/American Institute), University of California — Los Angeles (as Regent’s Scholar), and as a contributor to the Indigenous Choreographer’s at Riverside Project.

My knowledge gathering continues to broaden through ongoing embodied research with Whakamana Creatives at The Auckland Performing Arts Centre (TAPAC).

Embodied Activators (Pūngao)

Embodied Activators means energy and is driven by the revitalisation of connectivity through a range of tools that use voice, body, creative response, physical making and storytelling.

Embodied Activators come in short, one-off or longer wānanga /intercultural art- and community-based interventions that unfold the insightful, interpersonal and relational spaces of tikanga Māori and its many interpretive forms of knowing.

I can be consulted for a range of outcomes. These include hourly consultation online or in person (in Tāmaki Makaurau) to align with cultural needs and personal development, as well as wānanga for a group of people (ideally 25 max) within timeframes of two-to-three hours. Longer workshops are subject to arrangement.
